Striking Irish actor Cillian Murphy was born in Douglas, the oldest child of Brendan Murphy, who works for the Irish Department of Education, and a mother who is a teacher of French. He has three younger siblings. Murphy was educated at Presentation Brothers College, Cork. He went on to study law at University College Cork, but dropped out after about a year. During this time, Murphy also pursued an interest in music, playing guitar in various bands. Upon leaving University, Murphy joined the Corcadorca Theater Company in Cork, and played the lead role in "Disco Pigs", amongst other plays.
Various film roles followed, including a film adaptation of Disco Pigs (2001). However, his big film break came when he was cast in Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later (2002), which became a surprise international hit. This performance earned him nominations for Best Newcomer at the Empire Awards and Breakthrough Male Performance at the MTV Movie Awards.
Murphy went on to supporting roles in high-profile films such as Cold Mountain (2003) and Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003), and then was cast in two villain roles: Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka The Scarecrow, in Batman Begins (2005) and Jackson Rippner in Red Eye (2005). Although slight in nature for a villain, Murphy's piercing blue eyes helped to create creepy performances and critics began to take notice. Manhola Dargis of the New York Times cited Murphy as a "picture-perfect villain", while David Denby of The New Yorker noted he was both "seductive" and "sinister".
Later that year, Murphy starred as Patrick "Kitten" Braden, an Irish transgender woman in search of her mother in Neil Jordan's Breakfast on Pluto (2005), a film adaptation of the Pat McCabe novel. Although the film was not a box office success, Murphy was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical and he won Best Actor for the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards.
The following year, Murphy starred in Ken Loach's The Wind that Shakes the Barley (2006). The film was the most successful independent Irish film and won the Palm D'Or at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. Murphy continued to take roles in a number of independent films, and also reprised his role as the Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight (2008). Nolan is known for working with actors in multiple films, and cast Murphy in Inception (2010) as Robert Fischer, the young heir of the multi-billion dollar empire, who was the target of DiCaprio's dream team. His most well-known work is starring as Thomas Shelby in the British TV show Peaky Blinders beginning in 2013.
Murphy continues to appear in high-profile films such as In Time (2011), Red Lights (2012), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012), the final film in Nolan's Batman trilogy.

Suave Irish-born actor with resonant voice and a commanding presence, who made his theatrical debut in 'The First of Mrs.Fraser' (1942) at the age of 19 at the Cork Opera House. Nine years later, after spells with the Gate Theatre in Dublin and the Liverpool Repertory Company, Mulhare appeared in a Laurence Olivier-directed London production of 'Othello' with Orson Welles. It was there, that he was spotted by Alan Jay Lerner and signed as an understudy to Rex Harrison for the part of Henry Higgins in 'My Fair Lady'. The play ran on Broadway from 1957 to 1962, totalling a massive 2,717 performances. Harrison dropped out of the part in December 1957, and Mulhare, a relative unknown in the U.S., took over the role. This sparked a controversy with Actor's Equity over the hiring of foreign actors, which required a noted labour negotiator to resolve. In the end, Mulhare played Higgins to both audience approval and critical acclaim more than 1,000 times between 1957 and 1960. The play subsequently toured the Soviet Union, before returning to London. On Broadway, Mulhare also replaced Michael Rennie in the leading role of Dirk Winsten in 'Mary,Mary' and starred as Giacome Nerone in Dore Schary's 'The Devil's Advocate', alongside actors Leo Genn and Eduardo Ciannelli.
It was ironic, that Mulhare followed in Harrison's footsteps on television as well, playing the part of Captain Daniel Gregg (Harrison's in the 1947 movie), the titular spectre of The Ghost & Mrs. Muir (1968). The popular NBC series updated the setting from turn of the century New England to present day, and, by comparison with its cinematic predecessor, was less sentimental, but wittier by some degree. There was an undeniable on-screen chemistry between co-star Hope Lange and Mulhare, who was Emmy-nominated for his portrayal as the cantankerous, but thoroughly charming captain. From 1982 to 1986, Mulhare also appeared on television as the articulate Devon Miles, David Hasselhoff's boss, in the fantasy series Knight Rider (1982).
Surprisingly, Edward Mulhare never achieved star status on the big screen. Among the few films he made, one only remembers his dastardly villains of Our Man Flint (1966) and Caprice (1967). He did, however, continue to make frequent guest appearances on television in series ranging from The Streets of San Francisco (1972) to Battlestar Galactica (1978). In 1988, he also hosted a series about the paranormal, entitled Secrets and Mysteries (1983). Mulhare, a confirmed bachelor, died during filming of the Jack Lemmon/Walter Matthau comedy Out to Sea (1997) at the age of 74.- Ayoola Smart was born on 19 March 1994 in Schull, County Cork, Ireland. With dark good looks and a brawny build, Irish actor Kieron Moore made a name for himself in post-war British films as both heroes and villains. Interestingly, he is better remembered for one of his more earnest failures, that of Count Vronsky opposite Vivien Leigh's Anna Karenina (1948).
Born Kieron O'Hanrahan, he grew up in a hearty, Irish-speaking-only household. His father, Peter, was an Irish Nationalist writer, poet, editor and political activist who was imprisoned more than once by the British for his activities. Encouraged by their parents to pursue their artistic leanings, Kieron's sister Nease became an actress, brother Fachtna became a music director, and sister Blaithin played harp for the National Symphony Orchestra. Kieron himself was educated in Dublin and started to study medicine at University College. He abandoned his medical studies, however, after an Abbey Theatre rep saw him in a local play and accepted his application for membership.
In 1943 the handsome Kieron moved to England and subsequently made his London stage debut as Heathcliff in a production of Wuthering Heights. He went on to gain more notice in such plays as Purple Dust, by Sean O'Casey, and in XVth century play Everyman. He made an impressive film debut as an Irish Republican Army killer in The Voice Within (1946). The heroine in the film, murdered by Kieron's character, was played by actress Barbara White. Despite their fatal on-camera relationship, they formed a much more positive one away from the lens and married in 1947. Barbara retired shortly thereafter and they had three sons (Casey, Colm, Sean) and one daughter (Theresa).
Kieron was a talented, durable player but seemed to lack the charisma or drive for top stardom despite his early promise. An impressed Alexander Korda signed him up with his London Films following a heralded performance in the West End version of Sean O'Casey 's play Red Roses for Me in 1946. The marquee name of Kieron Moore was bestowed upon him at this time. While he excelled in his next unsympathetic role, the psychological drama Mine Own Executioner (1947) in which he plays a schizophrenic POW treated by doctor Burgess Meredith (with real-wife Barbara playing his wife in one of her last film roles), Kieron failed to capitalize on the one role that could have made him a star. As the urbane count in Anna Karenina (1948), he was deemed miscast by many of his reviews.
Kieron took a bite of the Hollywood apple when cast as Uriah the Hittite in the plush but stilted biblical epic David and Bathsheba (1951) opposite Gregory Peck and 'Susan Hayward' , and as a dashing Foreign Legion corporal in Ten Tall Men (1951), starring Burt Lancaster. Not much happened as a result and he returned to England. There he continued to offer fine and varied performances, notably in The Green Scarf (1954), in which he earned applause for his role as a deaf, blind and mute murder suspect.
Another part that garnered some attention was his playing of the bully Pony Sugrue in the Disney classic Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959). This was topped by the strong kudos he received in the top-drawer Jack Hawkins comedy, starring The League of Gentlemen (1960) as a gay former officer recruited by Hawkins to pull off a major bank heist. At the same time, he turned hero once again as a man forced to battle flesh-eating plants in the classic sci-fi thriller The Day of the Triffids (1963) co-starring Janette Scott.
At this juncture Kieron's status started to regress with more and more routine films handed him, including Doctor Blood's Coffin (1961), I Thank a Fool (1962) and The Thin Red Line (1964). He played second fiddle to special effects in Crack in the World (1965) and to Gregory Peck (again) in Arabesque (1966). He took as his final film the underwhelming Custer of the West (1967) in which he was oddly cast as an Indian chief. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s he customarily performed on TV, including a short-lived series.
After retiring from feature film work altogether in 1974, his life took a religious and socially-active turn. He joined the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, for whom he worked for nine years, directing and narrating two film documentaries in the course of that time. The films dealt specifically with the struggle for survival in Third World countries. He also traveled extensively in the Middle East and India and provided voice-overs for other documentary features as well.
Retiring quietly to France in 1994, Kieron was survived by his wife, Barbara, and children at the time of his death on July 15, 2007 at age 82.- Camilla Power is an Irish born English actress and grew up in South west London.Camilla is a distant cousin of the actor Tyrone Power and her great grandfather was Sir John Power ,who was a member of parliament for Wimbledon before the second world war. Nathan Slattery was born August, 9, 1970 in Crosshaven Cork, Ireland. His father Cornelius Slattery worked as a manager with Ford Ireland and his mother Siobhan worked with Interior Design. Nathan has four siblings including three sisters and one brother.
After nearly dying at the age of one, his parents sought help from Nutritional Specialist's throughout Ireland for a remedy for Nathan's unknown ailment, with no answers. When Dr. Murphy visited the family owned "Shamrock" Bar he fortunately had the long awaited answer and diagnosed Nathan as a ceoliac.
He was given a classical education in Latin, Irish, French, Civics, and Music at Christian Brothers College. His first introduction to acting was through his experience at school. He played in "Oliver Twist" and "The Wizard of Oz" which brought him out of his shyness. His mother knew that her eldest son had an artistic flair at the age of 9, when he sang in falsetto tenor "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz" musical. She also encouraged him at an early age of 11 to take martial arts classes and at age 16 he received his karate Black Belt.
Upon leaving school early at age 18 he received a short lived position in the Irish Navy followed by sponsorship as an Auto Engineer with CAB Motor Co. William Wyler's Roman Holiday (1953) with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck inspired his interest with Vintage Vespa and Lambretta bikes and he started his own business with two-stroke light engine repairs.
The Mod classic look as Koole Katz Scooter Club Founder President earned him a position with the illusive Proco Model Agency. Nathan was made the "Male Face for 1995" and for the first time he appeared with his agent Clare Cullinane on the National TV show Talkabout (1990). Clare supported his talent and suggested that he gain some tools in the art of drama. After undergoing a two-day successful audition marathon with Coordinator Neville Carlisle-Style, Nathan received a place at Bull Alley Dublin.
Nathan attended a reading sit-in with the Cork Shakespearian Company for "Taming of The Shrew" after rekindling a school friendship with Peter Cashman. Peter introduced him to Piarce Gunn the director of the company. Spontaneously, upon meeting the director, Nathan quoted a monologue Marullus from Julius Caesar's opening scene "Wherefore rejoice what conquest brings he home". He successfully read for Hortensio. Rachel Sarah Murphy played Katherine the Shrew. Following this a George Bernard Shaw play "Heart Break House" Nathan played Randal the angst ridden husband of Lady Utterwood. Succeeding this role, a stream of parts were presented to Nathan from audience director talent spotters."Sive", John B. Keane, playing a bodhran singing gypsy boy. Jason of Argonaut in "Medea" touring Ireland and receiving several awards. "A Mid-Summer's Night Dream" as Puck. Michael Finn, a senior actor who played Pats Bocock father of Carthalawn in the play "Sive" was delighted for Nathan with his play review. Michael Finn suggested that he audition for Lee Strasberg N.Y. During the N.Y.audition Nathan re-enacted an effective memory scene based on his cat Ginger. During the re-enactment Nancy Collins the Coordinator noticed Nathan's intense sensitivity and presence. The following year he received a second scholarship for the Lee Strasberg L.A. Upon returning to Ireland, he filled a lead role with the film Argideen (2003) as the director needed an instant double and his brother Conor Slattery was busy with another project. The Irish civil war film "Argideen" was Nathan's first film break followed by a horror movie titled Carphone Scarehouse (2003).
In 2004, Nathan auditioned for Warner Brothers Superman Returns (2006) and the Casting Director mentioned that Nathan would play a great villain. After not being granted the role, Nathan travelled to China and Mongolia where he bought a souvenir box of terra cotta soldiers. The magic box was the genesis for the idea for his 4-award-winning time-travel Sci-Fi film Biopsy Shake (2005). This success was followed by another Gael Taca Award for his title film Mr Spoon (Tuiseal Spuinneog) (2007). He then travelled to Sri Lanka and Axum Ethiopia to research his current pet side project, a Sci-Fi film Stoa. In the film, the protagonist must travel through 12 portals to reach the End of the world where the Island Stoa ascends 5047 C.E.
Since 2007. Nathan played lead Vocalist with the Electronic Band "LLEXX" that toured Ireland. Nathan performed "Up There Titanic" at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival at the Tron Church. Nathan travelled to Vancouver, Canada for 9 weeks and returned to Ireland for Christmas to record an album titled "The Woman Who Loved Too Much". He returned again to Canada in the first quarter of 2013 and hasn't returned since. His performance competing in Karate Provincials gained him International Silver and Bronze medals with Gold in Zone 5 for Kumite Combat.
Being of Irish decent, Nathan has lived in Irish-speaking areas known as Na Gaeltacht. These communities continue traditions such as the art of story-telling and drama, the making of musical instruments, basketry, and Irish dancing. Nathan learned the trade of Stone Masonry in Connemara and enjoys playing his favorite tune "The March of Brian Boru" on his traditional harp. Nathan holds a Teachers A.L.C.M. Diploma in Acting through the Thames University. While in Canada, he has hosted well-attended drama workshops in the Vancouver Downtown Eastside, the Yukon, and in Pemberton. His experience includes working with the Mount Currie First Nations Band.
His former Irish agent mentioned that Nathan reminds her of a young Richard Harris. Films such as "A Man Called Horse", "Midnight Cowboy", "1984", "East of Eden", "Orlando", "Dolls", "The Man Who Fell to Earth", "Good Evening Mr. Lawerence","True Romance", "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," "Pink Panther "and "Ferris Buellers Day Off" shaped Nathan. John Hughes' Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) is an instrumental film that changed his life. Nathan studies Prajapita Meditation which is a self-motivating and empowering meditation. He believes in divine application and places a premium on the spiritual dimension of performance. At the end of a meeting, while out shopping for a Vancouver film agent, he noticed an open office door from the corner of his eye as he was about to exit the building. A "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" poster was displayed on the inside wall of the office. Nathan conversed with a woman diligently working behind a computer monitor and asked, "Are you an agency?". Upon the impromptu meeting, Nathan is delighted to have found a kismet match with the CUE Agency with representation from Jenn Andrusco.- Actress

A native of Cork City, Ireland, Mark Mahon started out at a young age as a singer/songwriter and wrote over forty songs, several of which were recorded. At the age of eighteen, he trained to be an actor. During this time, he successfully completed his L.A.M.D.A (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) acting examinations with distinction.
At the age of 22, Mark was severely injured in an accident and had to spend several months in the hospital recovering. Left in a wheelchair for three years, he turned his love of acting and his passion for the industry to writing feature films to stay involved in his chosen career. Left with a permanent disability, he has completed many scripts, one award-winning graphic novel and one award-winning novel.
In 2005, he won the 'Best Screenplay Unproduced' Award at the International Action on Film Ceremony in Los Angeles for Freedom Within The Heart, which was launched in late 2007, as a limited four edition, full-color comic series. He also set up his production company Maron Pictures, which now has offices in Ireland and Los Angeles.
Always wanting to direct and not being able to find a director who shared his vision, Mark decided that he would helm his first project himself. So in early 2006, he went to London and received his Director's Diploma from the Raindance Organization. Then, Mark directed his first feature Strength and Honour starring Michael Madsen, Vinnie Jones and Richard Chamberlain.
In 2007, Mark made the cover of the April edition of 'Hollywood Scriptwriter' and was recently honored by the Action on Film Awards by having 'The Mark Mahon Award of Excellence in Writing' named after him. Strength and Honour has taken over 24 wins and 36 nominations, as well as official selections from film festivals all across the world, including selection for some of the world's most prestigious non-competitive festivals such as Cairo, Cambridge, Portugal, Moscow, Rome, Seville and Shanghai.
A great honor was the Film's selection by the Beijing Olympics Committee for their Sports Film Screening Week in 2008. In 2009, the Film was selected to screen at the Writers Guild of America and received a review in the Los Angeles Times that described it as 'another Slumdog Millionaire'. Months later, Michael Madsen and Mark Mahon appeared on the TODAY show in New York. Then, on March 17th, 2010, Mark Mahon and the film's main cast were invited by Prince Albert of Monaco to a Royal screening at the Palace of Monaco for the Royal family.
A member of the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland and the Irish Film and Television Academy, Mark is now planning his next feature 'Freedom Within the Heart.'- Actor

After screening at some of the world's biggest film festivals 'Beyond The Woods' won two best feature awards and picked up a National Film Award nomination in London. Following general release 'Beyond The Woods' was recommended in Empire magazine by legendary film critic Kim Newman who said ''Beyond The Woods really works. An excellent cast of unfamiliar (but plainly professional) Irish actors manage to convey a complicated set of interrelationships in the group which keep everyone off-balance even before the scare stuff starts.'' John was also singled out for his performance in 'Beyond The Woods' by film critics. Philip Rogers said ''John Ryan Howard stood out for me.'' Starburst magazine's Rich Cross said ''John Ryan Howard as the emotionally wounded Ger stands out.''
